Third order effect of rotation on stellar oscillations of a B star

چکیده
The present paper aims at investigating the effect of rotation up to third order in the angular velocity of a star on p and g modes, based on the formalism developed by Soufi et al. (1998). Our ultimate goal is the study of oscillations of β Cephei stars which are often rapidly rotating stars. Our study shows that the third-order perturbation formalism presented by Soufi et al. (1998) must be 2 K. Karami et al.: Third order effect of rotation corrected for some missing terms and some misprints in the equations. As a first step in our study of β Cephei stars, we quantify by numerical calculations the effect of rotation on the oscillation frequencies of a uniformly rotating zero-age main-sequence star with 12 M⊙. For an equatorial velocity of 100 kms , it is found that the secondand third-order corrections for (l,m) = (2, 2), for instance, are of order of 0.01% of the frequency for radial order n = 6 and reaches up to 0.5% for n = 14.

Third Order Effect of Rotation on Stellar Oscillations of a β-Cephei Star
Here the effect of rotation up to third order in the angular velocity of a star on the p, f and g modes is investigated. To do this, the third-order perturbation formalism presented by Soufi et al. (1998) and revised by Karami (2008), was used. I quantify by numerical calculations the effect of rotation on the oscillation frequencies of a uniformly rotating βCephei star with 12 M⊙. For an equat...
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملEvaluation of New MOND Interpolating Function with Rotation Curves of Galaxies
The rotation curves of a sample of 46 low- and high-surface brightness galaxies are considered in the context of Milgrom's modi_ed dynamics (MOND) to test a new interpolating function proposed by Zhao et al. (2010) [1] and compare with the results of simple interpolating function. The predicted rotation curves are calculated from the total baryonic matter based on the B-band surface photometry,...
متن کاملScaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters
We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...
متن کاملDynamical Tides in Rotating Binary Stars
We study the effect of rotation on the excitation of internal oscillation modes of a star by the external gravitational potential of its companion. Unlike the nonrotating case, there are difficulties with the usual mode decomposition for rotating stars because of the asymmetry between modes propagating in the direction of rotation and those propagating opposite to it. For an eccentric binary sy...
